Deepcell Express enables researchers at universities and medical centers to send in samples for AI-based morphology analysis, expanding access to cutting-edge single-cell technology

MENLO PARK, CA, UNITED STATES — Oct 22, 2025

Deepcell, a pioneer in AI-powered, label-free single cell analysis and sorting, today announced the launch of Deepcell Express (www.deepcellexpress.com), an academic access program that allows researchers across academic institutions to experience Deepcell’s technology through a send-in service, no instrument required.

This new initiative extends the reach of Deepcell’s REM-I platform, which has been adopted by leading pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and research institutions worldwide. Through Deepcell Express, academic scientists can submit samples and receive publication-grade imaging and AI-derived morphological data directly through the Axon cloud portal.

“Deepcell Express brings our technology to the broader academic community,” said Maddison Masaeli, PhD, CEO and Co-founder of Deepcell. “We’ve seen remarkable interest in our platform from pharma and clinical research partners. Now, with Express, scientists at universities can explore morphology-driven biology using the same AI models that power REM-I all through a simple send-in workflow.”

The academic pilot provides qualified researchers with access to Deepcell’s high-dimensional morphology analysis. The program is available for research use only and is not intended for clinical or diagnostic applications.

To accompany the launch, Deepcell will host a webinar series featuring technology overviews and data vignettes  in oncology, and immuno-oncology, CGT, and other research areas. Each session will include live Q&A and opportunities for researchers to join the Deepcell Express.

“Our goal is to make morphology a measurable and accessible dimension of biology at scale,” added Mahyar (Yar) Salek, PhD, President and CTO of Deepcell. “By giving researchers an easy way to access AI-powered single-cell analysis, we’re helping accelerate discovery across many disciplines.”

About Deepcell

Deepcell is a life sciences company pioneering AI-powered, label-free single cell morphology profiling and sorting. Its REM-I platform enables researchers to capture, analyze, and isolate cells based on high-dimensional morphological features: unlocking new biological insights and driving innovation across oncology, immunology, cell therapy, and reproductive health. Deepcell’s platform leverages its artificial intelligence model, the Human Foundation Model, to identify and sort cells based on morphological distinctions, helping power basic and translational research and offering future applications in diagnostics and therapeutics. The company was spun out of Stanford University in 2017 and is based in Menlo Park, California. Learn more at www.deepcell.com or follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
